Inspiration for winter activities in Vienna
Those who are in Vienna during winter will not only have beautiful walking routes and museum offers but also the possibility to try out some new activities.
#1 Escape Room
How about a visit to an escape room? There you have to work as a team and solve tasks within 60 minutes to escape from a room or house. If you succeed, you are the winners of the game. This game promises a lot of fun and action and is recommended for all age groups from 12 years on. But you can also ask the host for younger children's rooms in advance or go to escape rooms especially designed for children.
#2 Ice skating at Rathausplatz
Only a few minutes' walk from your hotel is the Vienna Rathausplatz (town hall). This is where the annual "Vienna Ice Dream" takes place. From 22 January to 1 March you can skate over the 9,000m² ice rink in front of the beautifully illuminated town hall or rent a ice stock alley online. In addition, you can warm up with a delicious hot punch at the popular Almhütte or at another stand in between.
#3 Typical indoor activities
As an alternative to a TV evening in your hotel room, you can also go for a game of bowling or billiards in a relaxed atmosphere. Even in this category, Vienna offers many places to go in order to spend a funny afternoon or evening as a couple or in a group.
#4 Cinema visit
In addition to the big mainstream cinemas, Vienna also has a large variety of smaller but more charming cinemas to offer.
The Stadtkino, for example, is one of the oldest arthouse cinemas in Vienna and is located in the Künstlerhaus on Karlsplatz. These are mainly Austrian productions.
The Filmmuseum, on the other hand, plays some films in the original English language and focuses on film as an artistic work and stimulates discussions on many different aspects.
