The Viennese sauna experience
Here it is again - the cold season. A time in which we probably like to stay at home, wraped up on the couch in a cuddly and warm blanket. You are freezing and unfortunately this is often accompanied by a bad cold.
But what to do in this case? The answer is: Sweat! - And we don‘t meant to sweat in the gym, but an extensive visit to the sauna. One does not believe how many possibilities there are in Vienna to have a really good sauna.
Here are a few recommendations:
The Amalienbad in Vienna's 10th district. One of the oldest public swimming pools in the city. It impresses with its nostalgic flair and the many spa services they offer. Among other wellness services they have a rather small, but satisfying sauna area.
The Stadthallenbad in the 15th district. No other swimming pool in the city is used by so many schools for swimming lessons. It might not sound very relaxing, but the school kids won‘t affect you when you go to the sauna, they prefer to have fun in the huge swimming pools, definitely worth a visit!
Also a good one is the Dianabad in the 17th district. For all „money savers“ it is just the right public bath. The reason is that the sauna visit is included in the entrance fee.
For those who want something more luxurious and exquisite, we highly recommend the Asiawan Boutique Spa in the 1st district. Among massages and other beauty treatments the sauna is really something else.
The famous Aux Gazelles, which normally is known as a very good restaurant, is equipped with a steam sauna, an area for body treatments, such as scrubs, and a tea room inspired by the original oriental version.
Saunas for every taste - and they’re all in one city!
Our tip: be sure to try, for a relaxing and vitalising experience!
